The MCI Management Center Innsbruck is an accredited provider of technical college courses in accordance with Section 2 of the University of Applied Sciences Studies Act, advanced training and practical research in Innsbruck .

History and organization

The MCI Management Center Innsbruck was founded in 1995/96 as a university center organized under private law but largely publicly owned. The university is responsible for:

  • 75% of the "Supporting Association MZT" with the State of Tyrol, City of Innsbruck, Tyrol Chamber of Commerce, Tyrol Chamber of Labor, Tyrolean Industrial Association, University of Innsbruck, Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences of the University of Innsbruck
  • 12.5% ​​of the "Technical Support Association"
  • 12.5% ​​of the "Association for Tourism"

In addition, the work of the university is supported by a sponsorship group consisting of companies from various industries.

The MCI is an accredited provider of technical college courses in accordance with Section 2 of the Fachhochschule Studies Act. The MCI is a university organized under private law with the registered trademark Die Unternehmerische Hochschule® or The Entrepreneurial School®.

Locations

The MCI has five locations in Innsbruck :

  • MCI I + II: in the center between the old town / state theater, theological faculty and the social and economic science faculty, Universitätsstraße 15
  • MCI III: Weiherburggasse 8 (houses the courses in tourism)
  • MCI IV: Maximilianstraße 2 (houses the courses in Technology & Life Sciences)
  • MCI V: Kapuzinergasse 9

As part of the partnership concept Open University Innsbruck , the MCI shares facilities such as libraries, laboratories, canteens, sports facilities, etc. with the universities of Innsbruck .

The consecutive bachelor's and master's degrees are set up as university of applied sciences degree programs . From 2005 to 2009 all courses were converted to the Bachelor / Master model defined by the Bologna process . 11 courses can be studied entirely in English, as well as three courses in online / blended learning format. MCI students can complete one or more semesters at one of around 250 partner universities around the world. In addition to currently 16 partner universities double (can double degree ) or joint degrees ( joint degree ) to be acquired.

Doctoral agreements between MCI and the University of Innsbruck , the Medical University of Innsbruck and the Technical University of Graz enable joint research. An Executive PhD program in Management is offered in collaboration with the University of Antwerp and the Antwerp Management School.

Partner universities

The MCI cooperates with around 250 partner universities where students can complete one or more semesters of their studies. There are also double degree agreements and study abroad options.

Awards and rankings

AACSB International: On August 10, 2016, the MCI was accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business .

European University Association: The Council of the European University Association (EUA) accepted the entrepreneurial university on January 29, 2016 in Brussels as a new member of the association of European universities.

CHE university ranking: In the 2017 university comparison of the Center for University Development (CHE), the Management Center Innsbruck achieved 80 places in the top group with its courses in the fields of economics, social sciences and industrial engineering.

FIBAA premium seal: In 2014, the MCI underwent the legally required university audit and, in addition, a voluntary institutional accreditation.

ECTS label: The European Commission awarded the MCI the DS label and the ECTS label on June 11, 2009 in Brussels as the first Austrian university . Both labels were renewed by the European Commission in 2013.

Others

  • The MCI Student Services serve as a point of contact for accommodation / housing, scholarships / grants, sports / culture / leisure, literature / library and personal matters (e.g. psychological counseling, church communities).
  • In addition to the foreign languages ​​anchored in the curricula, a separate language center offers students the opportunity to acquire numerous languages ​​(e.g. Arabic, Chinese, French, Italian, Russian, Spanish) and intercultural qualifications.
  • The MCI alumni club (MCI Alumni & Friends), to which all MCI students also belong, organizes lectures and discussions with decision-makers from business, culture and politics.
  • The MCI Career Center offers support in finding / arranging internships during your studies, positions at graduation and professional advancement after your studies.
  • The Austrian Students' Union is organized at the MCI in the student council of the Management Center Innsbruck . The speakers for the individual courses, the chairmen and the federal mandate of the ÖH are elected annually in the summer semester.
