Teemu Tamminen

Teemu Tamminen (born August 27, 1987 in Riihimäki ) is a Finnish handball player who is mostly used on the left wing . In 2015 and 2016 he was voted handball player of the year in Finland.

The 1.91 m tall and 87 kg heavy right-hander has played for the Finnish club Riihimäki Cocks since the beginning of his career , with whom he won the championship in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 as well Won the trophy in 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018. With his team he also takes part in the Baltic Handball League , in which he was runner-up in 2012/13 and reached the Final Four in 2010/11 and 2013/14. Internationally, he made it into the third round of the 2006/07 EHF Challenge Cup , the first round of the 2007/08 EHF European Cup Winners 'Cup , the first qualifying round of the 2008/09 EHF European Cup Winners' Cup and the 2013/14 EHF Challenge Cup to the quarterfinals. There he lost after a 23:17 home win at Metaloplastika Šabac with 19:26 and retired. Nevertheless, Tamminen was the top scorer in this competition with 52 goals. The German Bundesliga club HSG Wetzlar wanted to sign him for the 2013/14 season . The change did not come about due to his club's transfer request.

Teemu Tamminen is part of the Finnish national team , for example for the qualifying group with Germany, Spain and Austria for the 2016 European Championship . By October 2017, he played 71 international matches , in which he scored 349 goals.
