Teli-Kreuz and young team

Every weekend and on public holidays, the wooden Teli cross shines in blue light high above St. Niklaus Dorf. It is 12.70 meters high and 5.60 meters wide. Also in the case of a death in the parish of St. Niklaus , the cross lights up in devotion to the deceased person until they are carried to the grave.

The mighty cross was erected in 1950 by the youth team on the Teli-Tschuggu ( Tschuggu Valais German for rocks ). Since then, a memorial ceremony has been held on the Maiensäss every five years. In 1964 the cross was provided with electrical lighting.

The young team was founded in 1937 and is the subsequent professional organization of the former youth club . Its founding document is dated April 1, 1900 and signed by the mountain guide Alois Pollinger junior as president.
