Company history

The company, founded in 1986 as Telital and Telital Automotive , initially offered research and development services to multinational telecommunications companies as an engineering office . Since 1997, the products have been manufactured and marketed under the Telit brand name. In 1998 Telit launched its first M2M module with the name Datablock . From 1997 onwards, cell phones and other devices for mobile communication were delivered to end users or network operators worldwide on a large scale. This includes, for example, the first Globalstar satellite cell phone.

In 2003 the company was taken over by Oozi Cats. Since then, Telit has only manufactured modules for machine-to-machine communication. These include cellular and short-range modules, as well as position determination products.

In March 2011 Telit took over the M2M module division from Motorola Solutions . Consolidated pro forma sales for the company, including the acquisition, were approximately $ 180 million as of December 31, 2010. The company also launched GlobalConect Ltd. in 2011 . and Navman Wireless OEM Solutions acquired . Thanks to the latter, Telit was able to significantly expand its portfolio in the GNSS area.

In July 2012, the company founded the new m2mAIR division . Telit offers services and connectivity via m2mAIR. At the beginning of 2013, Telit took over CrossBridge Solutions and thus expanded the m2mAIR business area to include an offer for small and medium-sized companies in the USA.

In September 2013 Telit acquired ILS Technology, a US company in the field of cloud and application enablement platforms (AEP).

Today Telit not only develops, produces and sells M2M modules for all relevant wireless technologies, but also managed and value-added services in areas such as application enablement and connectivity for cellular networks as well as internet / cloud via the m2mAIR division. The wireless technologies offered include cellular modules such as GSM / GPRS, EDGE , UMTS / WEDGE / HSPA + and CDMA / Ev-Do-M2M modules, products for short-range technologies such as Wi-Fi, ZigBee , Short Range RF (proprietary and point-to-point networks for unlicensed frequency bands), Wireless MBus and GNSS modules (GPS and GLONASS).

In 2014, Telit took over the ATOP (Automotive Telematics On-board Unit Platform) business of the Dutch NXP Semiconductors and thus founded an independent automotive division. ATOP is a solution specifically aimed at automobile manufacturers. It offers you the opportunity to implement eCall or similar functionalities in a single, compact package.

Another R&D center is located in Tel Aviv ; it supports the other centers in the development of all mobile communications technologies.

Three other R&D centers are located in the USA: The R&D center in California is the main facility for the development of GPS / Glonass modules.
