Tempel is an American post-metal band from Phoenix . The band is signed to Prosthetic Records and has so far released two studio albums.

history

The band was founded in 2003 under the name Temple and originally consisted of five musicians. In the following years three musicians left the band due to a lack of motivation and different musical interests, so that in 2006 only the drummer Rich Corle and the guitarist Ryan Wenzel remained. In the following three years the two musicians wrote their first songs, which were then recorded between 2009 and 2012. The band benefited from the fact that Ryan Wenzel works in a recording studio and could use it for free when no other band was on site.

Finally, in 2012, Tempel released their debut album On the Steps of the Temple , which was initially released through the online music service Bandcamp . Then Prosthetic Records became aware of the band, which changed the spelling of the band name to Tempel in September 2013 . The musicians wanted to avoid litigation with other bands called Temple . In November 2013, Tempel were signed, who re-released the album on January 21, 2014. At the same time the band records the first demos for a second album.

style

Tempel play progressive post-metal with no vocals. According to Ryan Wenzel, neither of the two musicians has vocal talent. During the songwriting for the debut album, the musicians also felt no need to work with vocals. In addition to post-metal, the band also processes influences from black and doom metal as well as sludge . Tempel's music has been compared to bands like Omega Massif .
