Tenet is a heavy metal band formed as a side project by Jed Simon (from Strapping Young Lad ) and Gene Hoglan (from Zimmer Hole ).

history

Tenet was originally founded in the summer of 1996. Together with Steve Wheeler (drummer at Zimmer Hole at the time) they started recording their ideas as demo tapes, but everyone continued to play in their actual bands. Tenet was initially just a side project and apart from a few casual jam sessions the band hardly did anything. When Jed met guitarist Glen Alvelais (formerly with Forbidden ) in 1997 when Strapping Young Lad toured with Testament , Jed asked him if he would like to join Tenet, and Glen agreed to participate.

After a contract with Century Media Records was worked out, Jed began to work on “Sovereign”, together with bassist Byron Stroud (played with Fear Factory , Strapping Young Lad and Zimmer Hole) and drummer Adrian Erlandsson (played with At the Gates , The Haunted , Cradle of Filth , Paradise Lost ), but because of the great distance to the others and other difficulties, he could not invest enough time in the project and the album. So Jed turned to Gene Hoglan again to win him over as a drummer for the album. But the band still lacked a singer who was eventually found in Steve "Zetro" Souza (from Exodus ) after a few test recordings . He turned out to be the perfect vocalist for the album as he instantly gave the band the "classic" metal feel Jed was looking for.

Jed flew twice quickly to the Bay Area to manage the vocal recordings with Zetro and later to mix the album with Vincent Wojno. Ultimately, Andy Sneap took on the mastering of Sovereign and the cover design was done by Travis Smith .

The album Sovereign was finally released on July 20, 2009 in Europe and on August 11, 2009 in the USA after many years of setbacks and various delays. The album received a lot of positive reviews.
