Tengen (era)
Tengen ( Japanese 天元 ) is a Japanese era ( Nengō ) from December 978 to May 983 according to the Gregorian calendar . The previous era name is Jōgen , the following era is called Eikan . The era falls during the reign of Emperor ( Tennō ) En'yū .
The first day of the Tengen era corresponds to December 31, 978; the last day was May 28, 983. The Tengen era lasted six years or 1610 days.

- 978 Fujiwara no Yoritada becomes Daijō Daijin
- 980 The Rajōmon (fortress gate) of the Heian-kyō -Palace overturns for the second time as a result of a rainstorm and is not rebuilt
