Tenhya (also: Tenhia ) is a rural community in the Tanout Department in Niger .
geography
Tenhya is located in the northern Sahel zone . The neighboring communities are Aderbissinat in the northwest, Tabelot in the northeast, Tesker in the east, Tanout in the south and Tarka in the west. The municipality is divided into the administrative village of Maigachi and 59 water points.
history
The rural community of Tenhya was established as an administrative unit in 2002 as part of a nationwide administrative reform in a previously community-free area.
population
At the 2001 census, Tenhya had 15,122 residents. For 2010, 20,533 inhabitants were calculated. Members of the Fulbe subgroup Wodaabe and the Tuareg subgroups Ichiriffen, Imdan, Inesseliman, Kel Ates, Kel Iferwane and (to the west of the rural community) Ifoghas live in Tenhya, all of whom specialize in remote grazing .
