The Tennessee Boys were a German singing duo consisting of Detlef Cieslik , (born December 26, 1943 ), and Reinhard Michalzik , (born April 15, 1944 ).

The Tennessee Boys sang for Werner Müller from the RIAS Tanzorchester Berlin in 1960 and they were immediately popular. In the same year, the two 16-year-olds recorded a German version of the Everly Brothers ' current hit , Cathy's Clown, under the title Joe Brown, the Clown .

The Tennessee Boys recorded two more records at Teldec . Here, too, Gary Cane's The Yen Yet Song , Jimmy Clantons Go Jimmy Go , Carl Dobkins Jr. 's Take Time Out and Rex Allen's Dodie Ann were Germanized according to the tried and tested model . The great success did not materialize, however; Since the two were still in vocational training, their sphere of activity was limited to Berlin. Here they sang on many occasions, however. a. in the Deutschlandhalle , the Sportpalast , the Waldbühne or the Titania-Palast .

Cieslik and Michalzik were particularly connected to Gus Backus and Gerd Böttcher . Like Böttcher, the Tennessee Boys were under contract with the Berlin manager Peter Capella .

After the Tennessee Boys did not break off their apprenticeship due to a ban from their parents despite a large number of offers for concerts and live performances, their contracts were terminated; the Tennessee Boys were "dissolved".

Later the two started a second career in the four-man band "Spacemen". With this combo Detlef played on drums and Reinhard on guitar, among other things, all of the hits of the Everly Brothers.

With the “Spacemen” they took part on “1. Berliner Band-Wettstreit “in the Hasenheide , where Drafi Deutscher was discovered, who relegated the band to 2nd place. At the next Berlin band competition, the "Spacemen" only landed in second place - here the Lords were the winners, who then started a unique career.

Reinhard Michalzik lives by the study for construction since 1969 in Nuremberg.
