Teolinda Gersão

Teolinda Gersão (* 1940 in Coimbra ) is a Portuguese writer .

Teolinda studied German and English in Coimbra , Tübingen and Berlin , worked as a lecturer of the Portuguese language at the Technical University of Berlin , lecturer in Lisbon and later as a university professor at the New University of Lisbon , where she taught German literature and comparative literature until 1995. Since then, Teolinda has devoted herself exclusively to literature.

She lived in Germany for three years and in São Paulo , Brazil , for two years , a city that influenced her writing some texts such as Os Guarda-Chuvas Cintilantes (1984). She also got to know the state of Mozambique , in whose capital, the then so-called Lourenço Marques and today's Maputo , the scenes from the novel A Árvore das Palavras (1997) take place.
