Teresa Parodi ( Teresa Adelina Sellares , born December 30, 1947 in Corrientes ) is an Argentine cantautora and composer .

Parodi had singing and guitar lessons from Blás Benjamin de la Vega from the age of nine. In 1979 she undertook as a guest of the quartet of Astor Piazzolla a tour through Argentina . In the following year, her debut album Teresa Parodi desde Corrientes was released . On her second album Canto a los hombres del pan duro 1983 she sang songs based on texts by Jorge Calvetti, Manuel J. Castilla , Jorge Luis Borges , Leopoldo Marechal , Francisco Madariaga and others.

In 1984 she first took part in the Festival Nacional de Folclore in Cosquín and brought out the album El purhajhei de Teresa Parodi , with which she won gold, platinum and double platinum records . Parodi presented her next two albums at concerts in Luna Park . In 1988 she recorded Ros Letra y música with Antonio Tarragó . She went on a concert tour through the USA and took part in Mercedes Sosa's show Sin Fronteras .

Concerts in Europe , Cuba and Mexico followed . In 1991 Parodi took part in the 11th Festival of Latin American Music in Utrecht and recorded an album with Roy Brown and Luis E. Mejía Godoy. Her album Con el alma en vilo (1994) was recognized by the Asociación de Cronistas del Espectáculo as album of the year in the female soloist category. In 1995 she performed successfully for seven months in the one-person piece Como dicho al pasar , and in autumn that year she received the Premio Conex in platinum for the best Cantautora of the decade. The Comisión Nacional de Folklore awarded her the Camín de oro in 1999 for her life's work . In 2000 Parodi went on a concert tour to Israel with Víctor Heredia , León Gieco , Julia Zenko and Alejandro Lerner . For her album El canto que no cesa , Parodi was nominated for the Premio Gardel for best folklore artist in 2002 .
