Ternawka ( Ukrainian Тернавка ; Russian Тернавка , Romanian Tărnăuca, Târnauca, Tirnauca ) is a village in the Herza area in the Ukrainian Oblast Chernivtsi with about 2800 inhabitants (2004).
Ternawka is the administrative center of the district council of the same name in the south of Herza Rajon near the Ukrainian- Romanian border. The village Djakiwzi ( Дяківці ⊙ ) with about 1200 inhabitants also belongs to the municipality. The Herza Rajon center is 6 km northeast and the city center of Chernivtsi 37 km northwest of Ternawka. The T-26-06 territorial road runs through the village
The village, first mentioned in writing in 1660, originally belonged to the Principality of Moldova and became part of the Romanian region of Moldova in the middle of the 19th century . In 1940 it became part of the Ukrainian SSR within the Soviet Union . Between 1941 and 1944 it was annexed to Romania again, only to fall again to the Soviet Union until 1991. Since 1991 the village has been part of independent Ukraine.
