Terra Nova (proper spelling terra nova; lat . New Earth ) was the name of a commercial German television station that sent on 15 September 2004 to 10 July of 2007.

Most of the program content consisted of documentation about nature and technology. Some teleshopping programs were also broadcast.

Like its predecessor Onyx.tv , Terranova belonged to the French company AB Groupe and was able to make use of its extensive pool of popular scientific documentaries. The managing director was Ludi Boeken .

Was spreading the division program free digitally via satellite Astra ( DVB-S ), regional and analogue and digital via TV cable in the network of Vodafone cable Germany , Unity Media and Kabel BW , in the Rhine-Main area , the Ruhr area and in the rooms of Dusseldorf , Cologne / Bonn , Hanover / Braunschweig , Bremen and Hamburg also via DVB-T .

In the course of the first half of 2007 Terranova gave up its DVB-T licenses and gradually withdrew from its involvement in analog cable. Distribution via digital cable and satellite (Astra digital) was thus focused. There was also the possibility of receiving broadcasts via the Internet portal and IPTV.

On July 10, 2007 Terranova ceased broadcasting. The reason for this are economic problems. Above all, the "high costs of technical distribution and the volume and discount-driven system of media bookings" are responsible for the end, the broadcaster announced on June 13, 2007.
