Terrell Maurice Gausha (* 9. September 1987 in Cleveland , Ohio ) is an American professional boxer in the middleweight division .

Amateur career

The 5-time Cleveland Golden Gloves Champion won the US Middleweight Championships in 2009 and 2012 , and the silver medal in the middleweight division at the National Golden Gloves in Little Rock in 2010 .

In September 2009 he took part in the 15th World Championships in Milan , but lost there in the preliminary round against Alex Theran from Colombia (6:12). He won the American Olympic qualification in Rio de Janeiro in May 2012 after beating Oliver Ballesteros from Nicaragua (22: 5), Enrique Collazo from Puerto Rico (16: 5), Marlon Delgado from Ecuador (15:10) and Junior Castillo from the Dominican Republic (6-2) had prevailed.

At the subsequent Summer Olympics in London in July 2012 , defeated the 2009 vice world champion, Andranik Hakobjan from Armenia (tKo), in the preliminary round , but lost in the round of 16 just under 15:16 against Indian Vijender Kumar .

Professional career

After the Olympic Games, he switched to the professional field and won his debut on November 9, 2012 by knocking out in the second round. He lost his first world championship fight for the IBO and WBA titles on October 14, 2017 on points against Erislandy Lara . In May 2019 he reached a draw with Austin Trout .
