The Tetrameristaceae are a family of plants from the order of the heather-like (Ericales) with three genera and only five species .
description
They are bushes or trees . The alternate and spirally arranged, short-stalked to sessile leaves are leathery and simple. They can be asymmetrical. The leaf margin is usually smooth. There are no stipules.
The flowers are in differently structured inflorescences. The small, hermaphrodite flowers are radially symmetrical and usually four or five-fold. They have a double perianth . There are four to five free sepals and free petals available. The flowers contain only a circle with four or five free, fertile stamens . Four or five carpels are a top permanent, syncarp ovary fused; there is a stylus and a scar. Four- or five-seeded berries are formed.
