Tevfik Fikret

Tevfik Fikret (born December 24, 1867 in Istanbul , † August 19, 1915 there ) was a Turkish poet .

Act

He was a collaborator and main author of the magazine " Servet-i Fünûn " (" Treasure of Knowledge "), which worked towards a renewal of Turkish literature . With his inclusion of French and especially impressionistic elements in his poetry, he is considered a modernizer of Turkish poetry.

Fikret taught at Robert College in the 1890s and also lived on campus. His close friendship with Dr. Friedrich Schrader , who also worked at Robert College and lived on campus with his family, and who paid tribute to him in detail in an article in "Literary Echo" in 1900.
