Théâtre municipal (Coulommiers)
The Théâtre municipal is an event building in Coulommiers , a French commune in the Seine-et-Marne department of the Île-de-France region , built in 1904. The building, located on Place de la Mairie, diagonally across from the Hôtel de Ville , has been a protected architectural monument ( Monument historique ) since 1994 .
history
After the fire in the event hall in February 1902, an architectural competition was announced for a new building , which was won by Charles Duval and Camille Robida . The building, located on Grand Morin , was inaugurated in 1904.
architecture
The main facade of the elongated, rectangular building faces the mayor's office ( Mairie ). There is a large arched window with a balcony above the three-part portal . The façade is closed off by a round, front gable with masks.
Inside the auditorium is equipped with balconies and galleries. In 1904 the building was equipped with the most modern theater technology of the time, some of which has still been preserved.
