The Thuringian State Agency for Agriculture (TLL) was an authority of the Free State of Thuringia until December 31, 2018 . It was founded on April 20, 1994 and was a subordinate authority of the Thuringian Ministry of Infrastructure and Agriculture . The seat of the authority was Jena .

history

By resolution of the Thuringian state government, on April 20, 1994, the Agricultural Investigation and Research Institute (LUFA) based in Jena-Zwätze with various departments of the Thuringian State Administration Office in Weimar was merged to form the Thuringian State Institute for Agriculture (TLL). The newly established authority was assigned the sovereign tasks under agricultural law and subsidy law. Since January 2009, the TLL has also been responsible for agricultural training and further education. Presidents so far have been Herbert Bohle (1994-2000), Gerhard Breitschuh (2000-2007) and Peter Ritschel (2007-2011). The Deputy President Armin Vetter then carried out these tasks until February 2017. On March 1, 2017, Frank Augsten was appointed acting president of the TLL. The Thuringian State Office for Agriculture and Rural Areas (TLLLR) was established on January 1, 2019 by resolution of the Thuringian Parliament on December 13, 2018 . It takes over the previous tasks of the TLL.

structure

The authority was divided into six departments:

  • Central department with the agricultural science library and the agricultural information system, responsible for internal administration as well as press and public relations,
  • Investigation system , responsible for the investigation of soils, seeds, animal feed and others,
  • Education with the educational institutions of the technical school for agriculture and housekeeping in Stadtroda and the inter-company training center for agriculture and housekeeping in Schwerstedt , responsible for basic and advanced training in the agricultural professions.
  • Plant production and agroecology with the Renewable Raw Materials Center in Dornburg-Camburg and the Horticulture Teaching and Research Institute in Erfurt-Kühnhausen , responsible for plant cultivation , plant and soil protection and renewable raw materials ,
  • Animal production , responsible for animal breeding , animal husbandry and animal feeding ,
  • Agricultural economics and agricultural market , responsible for business issues of agricultural businesses as well as subsidies and agricultural policy.
