The Banner of Freedom ( Samoan O Le Fuʻa o Le Saʻolotoga o Samoa) has been the national anthem of Samoa since 1962, when Samoa declared its independence from New Zealand . Words and sages are from Sauni Iiga Kuresa. The words refer to the flag of Samoa .
