The Beef Seeds are a British bluegrass band from Newport, South Wales. It was founded in July 2013. The band consists of Peet "Bongo Peet" Morgan, Becky "Miss Becky" Johnson, Scott "Showman" Bowman, and Adam Beale. "Ninja" is a Staffordshire - Chihuahua - mix and he is the band's mascot . He appears regularly in the band's videos. Instruments that the band uses in their songs are the guitar, mandolin, harmonica, double bass, washboard and double washboard, which was invented by front man Peet Morgan.

The Beef Seeds cover version of the song "Royals" (originally by Lorde) was one of several featured in an article entitled "Kiwi Making YouTube Waves With 'Royals' Cover". This article was published by the New Zealand news site "3 News". Additionally, the song received positive reviews from Radio 97.3-FM (KLLC) (based in San Francisco, California) on their website and from the Australian news website Daily Life, which described the song as "nasal" and "harmony laden".

The Beef Seeds' twenty-two videos that they posted on their YouTube page have been viewed more than 1,000,000 times. Given their success, the band hopes to go to the United States to perform their music in a live concert for fans in that country. In particular, her cover version of the Christmas carol of The Pogues - "Fairytale of New York" (in German: "The fairy tale of New York") became a Christmas hit on the Internet. In their version, the name of the song is "A Fairytale of Newport" (in German: "The fairy tale of Newport", given the band). The video follows the band and their official mascot, Ninja, through downtown Newport.

On October 22, 2013, RyanSecrest.com announced a competition to get fans to choose their favorite version of the hit single from Swedish DJ Avicii, "Wake Me Up". The first round of voting began with fifteen covers from fifteen different ensembles, one of which was the cover version of Beef Seeds. On December 17, 2013, RyanSeacrest.com announced that The Beef Seeds had won the competition.

The band is currently working on a project with the RyanSeacrest website to put together a medley of some of their most popular tracks from 2013. Commenting on this, Peet Morgan said: “We have already covered a lot of them, but some are still open. We pondered back and forth to understand what would most likely appeal to the American market. "

Music style and influences

The Beef Seeds create their own mix of pop, bluegrass and country. Front man Bongo Peet stated in an interview with the South Wales Argus: "We take the pop song and take it apart and split it up."
