action

The Italian opera star Lorenzo Orsini apparently kills his partner one night out of jealousy. The theater is closed because of this murder, the killer is never caught.

Years pass before seven school leavers want to whip the opera house back into shape for the prom. Among them is the daughter of the murder victim (and Orsinis, as it turns out later). She only recently learned of her origins and has been plagued by nightmares and visions ever since. Soon the first students and their teacher disappear, and slowly it becomes clear that they are not alone in the walls. In addition, someone locked the doors with chains from the outside.

A mysterious clown keeps popping up. He brutally kills one after the other until only the daughter of the murdered dead, Kate Williams, and one other student remain. It turns out that the owner of the theater Mr. Caruthers actually committed the murder then, and that Lorenzo Orsini blamed him. Since then Caruthers has been helping Orsini to hide in the opera house. But when Caruthers tries to get from his daughter what his mother denied him, Orsini turns against his "protector" and is killed by him.

At the grand finale in front of a murdered audience (the battered pupils) the last not yet murdered pupil tries to free the shackled daughter of the diva, also dressed in a clown costume for reasons that are not entirely apparent, which increases the number of clowns to three (Orsini, Caruthers and students mentioned above). This plan fails miserably, but the serial killing clown Caruthers refrains from giving his opponent the rest. Nevertheless, the time the killer was busy with the student was enough for the prisoners to break free from their bonds. In the last encounter she rams a screwdriver in his eye, the murderer falls through a trap door in the stage and impaled himself on a collection of spears that happen to be standing around under the trap door. The two survivors break the chains with an ax and leave the theater arm in arm.

Reviews

"Slasher film that offers the genre its blood toll without being able to conceal its mediocrity."
