reception

Frank Albrecht from the German magazine Rock Hard described The Coils of Apollyon as a “wonderful, earthy and down-to-earth metal disc” that “can shine with heavy metal that is traditional, but by no means old-fashioned”. Albrecht awarded eight out of ten points for the “versatile album that whets the appetite for more”. For Thomas Meyns from the online magazine Metalnews , cryptos can “stand out from the majority of the currently active retro Thrashers with a lot of independence”. He praised “the high level of technical skills” and awarded six out of seven points. Katharina Beck from the online magazine Metal.de, on the other hand, criticized the album as "little independent and special". Riffs and melodies seem “downright worn and worn” while the album as a whole “seems a bit uniform”. Beck awarded six out of ten points.
