The Critic is an American television series that portrays the life of the main character Jay Sherman. Initially, the series aired on ABC . From the second season, the station Fox broadcast the program. The Critic was developed by Al Jean and Mike Reiss , who also worked on The Simpsons . There is also a crossover of the two cartoon series in the series.
history
The first season of The Critic first aired thirteen episodes on ABC. When the second season was shown on Fox, there was a 1995 crossover with The Simpsons . In the 18th episode of the sixth season of The Simpsons with the German title "Springfield Film Festival", Marge asks Jay Sherman to a film festival to take part as a critic. The Critic was canceled after just two seasons . The reruns were then released on Comedy Central and Locomotion. Between 2000 and 2001, 10 webisodes were produced and broadcast on Atom.com. In 2004 a DVD box containing the 23 television and webisodes was released. There was no publication in Germany .
content
The series is about the film critic Jay Sherman, who lives in Manhattan , who regularly presents films for a television station and tears them all up (standard verdict “It stinks!”). In this context, numerous film parodies appear for which the series is known. In real life, he's a fat, unattractive adoptive son of a super-rich family who's all about finding a wife in season one. At the beginning of the second season he finds a steady partner; the adoption issue is no longer mentioned, but the rich parents continue to appear.
