Martin Kronauer (* 1949 in Grötzingen ) is a German sociologist who taught as a professor at the Berlin School of Economics and Law (HWR). His work focuses on the theory and empiricism of social exclusion , urban and social inequality , changes in gainful employment and new social issues .

academic career

Kronauer studied sociology, political science and philosophy at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and the Technische Hochschule Darmstadt , where he passed his master's degree in 1981 . From 1983 to 1984 he conducted research at the New School for Social Research in New York City . The doctorate took place in 1988 at the Free University of Berlin . After fifteen years as a research assistant and project manager at the Sociological Research Institute (SOFI) at the Georg-August University of Göttingen , where he also received his habilitation in 2001 , and stations as a visiting scientist and substitute professor, Kronauer became professor of social science in 2002 with a focus on structural change and the welfare state in international perspective at the Fachhochschule für Wirtschaft in Berlin, which was converted into the HWR in 2009.

Kronauer was a Fellow of the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg Delmenhorst , a visiting professor at the University of Göttingen and the University of Vienna and worked together with the German Institute for Adult Education in Bonn.
