The Gordons (writer duo)

The Gordons is the pseudonym of the author duo, consisting of Gordon Gordon (born March 2, 1906 in Anderson , Indiana ; † March 14, 2002 ) and Mildred Gordon (born June 24, 1912 in Kansas ; † February 3, 1979 in Tucson , Arizona ).

Gordon Gordon studied with Mildred Nixon at the University of Arizona and married them in 1932. After graduation, Gordon got a job in the editorial office of the daily Tucson Citizen . In 1935 he moved to the editorial office of the film company 20th Century Fox and stayed there until 1942. From there he was hired by the Homeland Security Department and Gordon worked in counter-espionage until the end of the war.

Mildred Nixon had u. a. Studied pedagogy and worked as a teacher for some time after completing her studies. After their marriage, she started working for the United Press news agency . She also served as the editor of Arizona Highways magazine for some time .

The first literary attempts of Gordon and Mildred Gordon go back to their student days. After the first successful publications, their works appeared almost exclusively in collaboration.

After Mildred Gordon died in 1979, Gordon married Mary Dorr on March 16, 1980.

reception

Of her work, the trilogy about Kater DC is particularly noteworthy. The novels were highly valued by the public as well as by official critics and were later congenially filmed. In addition to several standalones , the cycle around the protagonist "John Ripley" should be mentioned here.
