The Herbaliser
The Herbaliser is a two piece British band combining hip hop and electronic music .
history
The Herbaliser was founded in 1992 in London by acid jazz bassist Jake Wherry and DJ Ollie Teeba . The duo met DJ Food , who introduced them to the owners of the renowned electronica label Ninja Tune , where The Herbaliser's first album, Remedies , was released in 1995 . In their music they combined hip-hop with elements of electronic music and jazz .
On their second album, Blow Your Headphones , the duo worked with Jean Grae , among others . They later also collaborated with Roots Manuva , Bahamadia , Dilated Peoples and MF Doom .
When performing live, they act as The Herbaliser Band with Wherry on bass, Teeba on turntables, accompanied by a brass trio, a percussionist and a drummer.
