The Kinky Coo Coo’s is a ska reggae band from Barcelona .

Band history

The Kinky Coo Coo's was founded in Barcelona in 2000. In terms of style, the band followed the traditional Jamaican Ska , Reggae and Rocksteady of the 1960s and 1970s from the start. In 2003 they signed the Spanish ska label Liquidator Music and released the album Co tonga tonga . As a result, longtime singer Lord Kaya left the band. After a few line-up changes, the album Montjuïc Boneyard was released in 2006 on Redstar73 Records, a sub-label of Liquidator Music. This album was received much more positively in the ska scene than the debut album. The band intensified their concert activities in Catalonia and Spain and toured Europe again. In 2008 they released the single Full of Hope / Alive Brains on the Hamburg ska label Scorcha Records, which is only available on vinyl. The EP The Mean Machine followed a year later and has now been released by Liquidator Music again.

In addition to their own music, The Kinky Coo Coo's also worked as a live backing band for the following Jamaican artists: Dave Barker , Rico Rodriguez , Laurel Aitken , Roy Ellis , Earl 16 and Sister Audrey .
