The Nam Hai is a luxury hotel near Hoi An , Vietnam .

Nam Hai, Nam Hải for "South Seas" in Vietnamese , is located in Điện Dương (District Điện Bàn , Province Quảng Nam ), about 30 kilometers south of the city of Đà Nẵng and 11 kilometers north of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the old town of Hoi An. Here, on the beach Biển Hà My (Ha My Beach) of the South China Sea , one of the first tourist areas was founded after the economic turnaround Đổi mới of the Socialist Republic, which today is one of the largest projects of this type. In the direction of Hoi An and Da Nang there are further hotel complexes, some under construction. The island of Chàm is 30 kilometers at seawith the nature reserve Cù lao Chàm .

The resort extends as a spacious area for about one kilometer along the coast. It comprises 100  villas , two restaurants, a swimming, sports and wellness infrastructure and 35 hectares of tropical gardens with a beach. The five-star hotel opened in 2007 and was soon named one of the top hotels in Southeast Asia. It has been one of the two Vietnamese members of the Leading Hotels of the World association since 2009 , first belonged to the GHM ( General Hotel Management  Ltd. ) hotel chain in Singapore and was owned by American Indochina Resorts Ltd. (AIR). Ownership went to a joint venture made up of Hotel Properties Limited (HPL) and ASB Development Limited , Dubai. On December 20, 2016, the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts chain took over management.

In addition to prizes for tourist services, the hotel was also recognized for its architecture. The facility was designed by the French architect Reda Amalou (AM²), in the spirit of critical regionalism as a combination of traditional construction methods and classic-modern design language. The construction of the bungalows is derived from the Nha Ruong ("house made of panels"), a house shape that comes from the ancient Vietnamese royal city of Hu 120, 120 kilometers to the north . The interior was designed by the Indonesian designer Jaya Ibrahim . The garden architecture by Karl Princic (KPD, Indonesia) takes up the classic staircase and fountain architecture of the royal palaces of Hanoi and Hue.

The extremely luxurious and expensive hotel project (daily rents between $ 300 and 2000) - even for an up-and-coming tourist region - is accompanied by local development projects. A medical center and a vocational school for tourism are being built in the vicinity. A hotel foundation initiated by guests promotes supply and schooling in the surrounding area.

Trivia

The hotel served as a film set for episode 17 of the German television series Das Traumhotel in 2012 .
