The Oi! of Sex is the sixth part of the Oi! -Sampler series, which was originally founded in 1980 by Garry Bushell .
background
The Oi! of Sex was released on Syndicate Records in 1984 . Garry Johnson and music producer and label owner Ronnie Rouman were responsible for the selection.
After being on Son of Oi! some bands practically only existed on paper, this continued on the sixth part of the series. In addition to the projects Prole and Orgasm Guerillas by Bushell and Steve Kent ( The Business ) known from the fifth part, Crossed Hammers is another project band. Steve Kent and JJ Bedsore ( The Blood ) played on Crossed Hammers, while Dr Wildthing (also The Blood) took care of the vocals.
Ronnie Rouman later explained why so many bands were invented for the sampler:
“Although we were getting tapes in from new bands most of them were crap and so rather than have a so so Oi! compilation we felt it better to alter things a little so that we got a great Oi! LP to help to keep the scene alive. "
“Even though we got demos from new bands, most of them were crap. And instead of such a la la Oi! Compilation we decided to modify the whole thing a bit so that we have a great Oi! LP so that the scene stays alive. "
The cover again shows a strong reference to Garry Bushell. Pictured are Bushell's brother-in-law John Cousins and three scantily clad models on a bed. Cousins was a West Ham - hooligan , but died quite early epilepsy .
Another compilation called Joys of Oi! was announced for 1985. However, after a few test pressings, Syndicate Records went bankrupt. The sampler was therefore only realized by Link Records in 1990.

Song / band information
With Jimmy Mack (pseudonym of Paul Wellings), Swift Nick, Little Dave and Garry Johnson some spoken word titles were represented once again . Garry Johnson was assisted by keyboardist Frankie Boy Flame on If Looks Could Kill .
Both the text The Sun Says of Cock Sparrer , and the poem The Sun Swift Nick deal with the tabloid The Sun . Ironically, both Garry Bushell and Paul Wellings, who was also represented on the compilation, later worked for the same newspaper.
Burial came from Scarborough and represented leftist ideas in their texts. Rat Patrol from the west of England was a discovery by Attila the Stockbroker and was also part of the socialist side of the Oi! ABH were from Lowestoft while Dogsbody were from Middlesbrough . The latter were supported by Major Accident .
Prole got the most fan mail from all bands. Garry Bushell therefore planned an LP for the Gonads side project, which was never realized.
The band Vicious Rumors, who participated in Son of Oi! was the only one of the new groups that actually recorded an LP.
