Patricio Bunster

Patricio Bunster (born October 19, 1924 in Santiago de Chile ; † September 24, 2006 there ) was a Chilean choreographer and dancer .

Life

Bunster studied dance and architecture at the Universidad de Chile from 1940 to 1945 . From 1945 to 1950 he was a soloist in the National Ballet of Chile. From 1951 to 1953 he worked with Kurt Jooss at the Folkwang Dance Theater in Essen. From 1953 to 1954 he studied at the Sigurd Leeder School of Dance in London. From 1954 to 1969 he was deputy director, soloist and choreographer in Chile. He was also a professor of movement at the University of Santiago. From 1969 to 1973 he directed the national ballet, the dance school and the chamber ballet there. From 1973 to 1979 he led Teatro Lautaro at the Rostock Volkstheater . He was also a choreographer in Berlin, Chemnitz, Dresden, Rostock and Weimar. From 1979 to 1984 he taught contemporary dance and choreography at the Palucca School in Dresden and at the Leipzig Theater Academy . From 1985 to 1997 he directed with Joan Jara and choreographed the Centro de Danza Espiral . From 1997 to 1999 he was director of dance schools at the Universidad Academia de Humanismo Cristiano.
