Location of Dasbach in Rhineland-Palatinate

Dasbach is a district of the local community Asbach in the Neuwied district in northern Rhineland-Palatinate . The place is located in the Rhine-Westerwald nature park and is characterized by agriculture.

geography

The hamlet is located in the Niederwesterwald about five kilometers southeast of the main town of Asbach to the left of the Mehrbach . To the east of the village lies the border with the local community of Rott in the Altenkirchen district . Dasbach can only be reached via the district road 71, which connects the place with the Asbach districts Altenburg and Heckenhahn .

history

In 1579 there were four Cologne farms and one farm in Dasbach that was owned by the von Ehrenstein family . In 1618 there were only two farms left in Cologne's possession, one of which was “Peter the Anabaptist”, who had been expelled from the Bergisch office of Blankenberg for his belief . The Ehrensteiner Hof was to the right of the Mehrbach and had a size of 31 acres of land, 7 acres of meadow and a paddock of 3 acres.

Unlike the other districts of Asbach, Dasbach and Heckenhahn belonged to the county of Sayn (later Sayn-Hachenburg ) and to the parish of Flammersfeld . In 1806 the area became part of the Duchy of Nassau . After the Rhineland in 1815 to Prussia came Dasbach belonged to the municipality Rott in the then newly formed district Altenkirchen in Koblenz and was supported by the mayor Flammersfeld managed. According to a census from 1885, Dasbach had 30 residents who lived in five houses.

Until 1970 Dasbach was part of the municipality of Rott . Together with Heckenhahn, the place was separated from the Altenkirchen district and incorporated into the Neuwied district and initially became part of the Schöneberg community . In 1974 the previously independent community was dissolved and the two places Dasbach and Heckenhahn assigned to the newly formed local community Asbach. In 1987 Dasbach had 18 residents.
