Location of Kaltehöhe in Rhineland-Palatinate

Kaltehöhe is part of the local community Asbach in the Neuwied district in northern Rhineland-Palatinate . It is dominated by agriculture.

geography

The homestead is located in the Niederwesterwald about five kilometers south-east of the main town of Asbach and two kilometers east of Neustadt (Wied) on a hill above the Wiedtal near the Ehrenstein castle and monastery . Kaltehöhe is connected to the Asbach district of Altenburg via a side road and district road 70 .

history

In the first documentary mention in 1496, a farm belonging to the Lords of Ehrenstein is mentioned. Kaltehöhe belonged to the electorate of Cologne and the Altenwied office and was part of the " Honnschaft Schöneberg".

According to an inventory ordered by the Cologne Elector Maximilian Heinrich in 1660, the Kaltehöhe farm was 97 acres of land and 11 acres of meadow. In 1787 three families lived on the farm.

After the Rhineland came to Prussia in 1815 , the Kalscheid farm belonged to the Schöneberg community in the then newly formed Neuwied district and was initially administered by the Neustadt mayor and from 1823 by the Asbach mayor . According to a census from 1885, Kaltehöhe had 10 residents who lived in one house.

Until 1974, Kaltehöhe was part of the previously independent community of Schöneberg . On March 16, 1974, the local community Asbach was newly formed from it and the communities of Asbach and Limbach, which were dissolved at the same time, and part of the community of Elsaff . Kaltehöhe belongs to the existing district of Schöneberg.
