Löhe (dialect "Lüh") is a district of the local community Asbach in the district of Neuwied in northern Rhineland-Palatinate . The place, originally characterized by agriculture, has developed into a place of residence in the sense of a residential community .
geography
The village is located in the Niederwesterwald north of the main town Asbach. In the West Löhe borders the district of Buchholz (Westerwald) . Löhe is connected to the main town of Asbach via the state road 255 as well as to the federal highway 8 and via the district road 61 to the Asbach district of Limbach .
history
In 1430, together with a farm in neighboring Hussen, a "farm on the heights" was mentioned in a document . It is assumed that this farm was in Löhe.
Löhe belonged to the Electorate of Cologne and the Altenwied office and was part of the " Limbach Honnschaft ". According to an inventory ordered by Cologne Elector Maximilian Heinrich in 1660, Löhe had five courtyards. In 1787 there were 52 adult residents in Löhe who lived in 16 houses.
After the Rhineland came to Prussia in 1815 , Löhe belonged to the Limbach community in the then newly formed Neuwied district and was administered by the Asbach mayor . According to a census from 1885, Löhe had 139 inhabitants who lived in 28 houses. 1931 Löhe got its own post office Class II in the district of the post office Asbach, by the country post office of the post office from 1966 Linz was supplied.
Until 1974, Löhe was part of the then independent municipality of Limbach. On March 16, 1974, the local community Asbach was newly formed from it and the communities of Asbach and Schöneberg, which were dissolved at the same time, as well as part of the community of Elsaff . In 1987 Löhe had 192 inhabitants.
The family name Löhr emerged from the place name, the most famous representative of which is the Eitorfer soccer player Hennes Löhr .
