Zurheiden is a district of the local community Asbach in the district of Neuwied in northern Rhineland-Palatinate . The place is characterized by agriculture.

geography

The hamlet is located in the Niederwesterwald east of the main town Asbach on a hill above and west of the Krumbach . Zurheiden is only connected to the main town of Asbach via Kreisstraße 66.

history

In 1517, "Zur Heyden", an electoral Cologne court, was mentioned in a document together with the former farms "Heister" and "Reisbroch". The "Hof Heister" was on the way to Hussen , the "Hof Reisbroch" on the way to Zurheiden. Zurheiden belonged to the Electorate of Cologne and the Altenwied office and was part of the " Honnschaft Limbach". According to an inventory ordered by Cologne Elector Maximilian Heinrich in 1660, Zurheiden had three courtyards. Ecclesiastically, Zurheiden always belonged to the parish of Asbach and the Archdiocese of Cologne .

After the Rhineland became part of Prussia in 1815 , Zurheiden belonged to the Limbach municipality in the then newly formed Neuwied district and was administered by the Asbach mayor . According to a census from 1885, Zurheiden had 32 residents who lived in nine houses.

Until March 16, 1974, Zurheiden belonged to the then independent municipality Limbach . On March 16, 1974, the local community Asbach was newly formed from it and the communities of Asbach and Schöneberg, which were dissolved at the same time, as well as part of the community of Elsaff . In 1987 Zurheiden had 58 inhabitants.
