Location of Büsch in Rhineland-Palatinate

Büsch is a district of the local community Asbach in the district of Neuwied in northern Rhineland-Palatinate . The place is predominantly agricultural.

geography

The hamlet is located in the Niederwesterwald west of the main town Asbach on a hill above and east of the Pfaffenbach , which here also bears the local name "Griesenbach" or "Wahler Bach". To the east of the village is the Asbach district of Rindhausen and to the south of the Schluten residential area . Büsch is on Kreisstraße 48, which connects the Bennau district with Limberg and the municipality of Buchholz (Westerwald) .

history

In a document from 1517, the tenth area of Büsch is called "beneden the bush", "beneden" means "below" and "bush" stands for "forest".

Büsch belonged to the electorate of Cologne until 1803 . The place was part of the " Honnschaft Elsaff", which belonged to the parish of Asbach and was under the administration of the Electoral Cologne office of Altenwied . According to an inventory ordered by the Cologne elector Maximilian Heinrich in 1660, there were four courtyards in Büsch.

After the Rhineland came to Prussia in 1815 , Büsch belonged to the municipality of Elsaff in the then newly formed Neuwied district and was administered by the mayor's office of Asbach . According to a census from 1885, Büsch had 46 inhabitants who lived in 9 houses, 7 people lived in the separately listed Büschermühle.

Until March 16, 1974, Büsch belonged to the then independent municipality of Elsaff, which was dissolved on the same date and whose localities were assigned to the newly formed local communities Asbach and Buchholz according to the former parish affiliation . Büsch came to Asbach and has been part of the Elsaff-Asbach district since then . In 1987 Büsch had 38 inhabitants.

Büscher mill

The “Büschermühle” residential area is about one kilometer below the village of Büsch, near Bennau . It takes its name from the oil , grinding and bone mill that was closed down in 1975 . The age of the earlier mill is unknown; this mill may have belonged to the "Petershof", one of the five Elsaffer Höfe, which were named in 893 in the Prümer Urbar . Grain and oats were ground here until 1938.
