Krumscheid is a district of the local community Asbach in the district of Neuwied in northern Rhineland-Palatinate . The place is characterized by agriculture.

geography

The village is located in the Niederwesterwald east of the main town Asbach on a hill above and west of the Mehrbach . In the north Krumscheid borders on the local community Hirz-Maulsbach and in the east on the local community Kescheid , both of which are in the district of Altenkirchen . The place is connected to the Asbacher districts Sessenhausen and Altenhofen via the district road 64 .

history

In the first documentary mention of 1496 a farm belonging to the Lords of Ehrenstein with 14 acres of land and three acres of meadow is mentioned. In 1582 the Ehrenstein Monastery in Krumscheid also had a farm. Since the Middle Ages, Krumscheid has belonged to the Electorate of Cologne and to the Altenwied office and was part of the " Honnschaft Schöneberg". The Hirzbach in the northeast and the Mehrbach in the east formed the border between Kurköln and the County of Sayn . According to an inventory ordered by Cologne Elector Maximilian Heinrich in 1660, Krumscheid had four farms.

After the Rhineland became part of Prussia in 1815 , Krumscheid belonged to the Schöneberg community in the then newly formed Neuwied district and was initially administered by the Neustadt mayor and from 1823 by the Asbach mayor . According to a census from 1885, Krumscheid had 92 inhabitants who lived in 24 houses.

Until 1974 Krumscheid belonged to the previously independent community of Schöneberg . On March 16, 1974, the local community Asbach was newly formed from it and the communities of Asbach and Limbach, which were dissolved at the same time, and part of the community of Elsaff . In 1987 Krumscheid had 88 inhabitants.
