The Paramounts
The Paramounts were a British rock band and, with almost the same line-up, the predecessor group of Procol Harum .
Their first single was released in 1963 and was a version of the then very popular song Poison Ivy .
Procol Harum's roots can be clearly heard in these early recordings, especially in the original compositions by Gary Brooker and Robin Trower such as It Won't Be Long . In addition to Poison Ivy , the group recorded a few more songs over the course of their two-year recording career.
In 1967 almost all the musicians came together to found Procol Harum.
