action
1870: The five former Confederate and war veterans Will, Ike, Jeb, Hank and Billy have left their Texas homeland and gone to South America, where they are soon captured by soldiers and brought to General Martinez, who rules the country with an iron hand and cold heart ruled. On his behalf, the five are supposed to spy on the rebels in San Carlos, who are probably preparing a civil war between their supporters and Martinez's soldiers; Martinez faces dire punishments if she is betrayed.
On their way to San Carlos, the group meets a gypsy family with the same goal; Will escorts them on, especially since he has fallen in love with his daughter Mila. Once in town, they go to the governor and rent a house outside. After a nightly meeting between Mila and Will, Mila's father punishes his daughter and injures her cheek. Will confronts him and shoots him down.
After a few days, Will and his people decide not to report to Martinez. As announced, Martinez's punishment follows: He has Will kidnapped and hanged. His friends find him and after his funeral join the rebels fighting the general; through this mutual aid, Martinez and his soldiers can be trapped in a ravine. They manage to kill Martinez, but his soldiers in turn can kill all rebels except for Billy; he had fallen from his horse and passed out. After his recovery, Billy rides away.
