The Rockin 'Berries

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Rockin 'Berries was a British beat band formed in Birmingham in the early 1960s .

history

Although they derived their name from Chuck Berry , the group rarely "rocked" and otherwise had no relation to their namesake. Their first singles Wha Wha Wha Woo and Rockin 'Berry Stomp weren't very successful. That changed with songs that they had modeled on their American models The Tokens , The Four Seasons or Roy Orbison . Her biggest hit was He's in Town , which ranked number 3 in the UK in late 1964. It was a cover version of a token song. You're My Girl came from her other British chart recordsfrom the tokens; Poor Man's Sons they had copied the reflections . In general, their cover versions were thought to be more successful than their originals.

The Rockin 'Berries were known for their hilarious stage performances and parodies, which is why it was natural for them to end up in cabaret , where they were active until the second half of the 1980s.
