The Tellers are a pop-rock group from French-speaking Belgium .

Their debut album Hands Full of Ink became a national success in Belgium and climbed to number 7 in the charts. The band is one of the ten most heard Belgian artists on myspace.com.

The group consists of the drummer Cesar Laloux , the bassist Fabrice Detry , Joos Houwen and Ben Baillieux-Beynon . The band's role models are the Kinks , the Libertines , Bob Dylan and Cat Stevens .

history

Charles Blistin and Ben Bailleux-Beynon met in 2005 when Bailleux-Beynon took part in Pure FM's Pure Demo music competition . There the plates were initially created as a duo.

The band composes ballads in a headstrong way. The characteristic style of Bailleux-Beynon's guitar playing gives the music a special melancholy note. He owes his Welsh accent to his mother, who is from Cardiff . Charles Blistin took care of the arrangements of the pieces for the most part during his time in the band.

In June 2006 their debut EP " More " with seven songs was released, which was recorded in the studio of the Walloon band Girls in Hawaii . The EP was released by 62 TV Records (Girls in Hawaii, Malibu Stacy, Austin Lace) and contains the singles "More" and "Second Category" - the latter was part of a Canon commercial . "More" is part of the soundtrack of Electronic Arts' computer and video game FIFA 08 (with censored text) and also part of an Australian commercial for the ANZ Banking Group .

The EP "More" was the forerunner of the debut album " Hands Full of Ink ", which was released on August 21, 2007. The album was produced by Fabrice Detry (Austin Lace, Hallo Kosmo) and contains 16 songs. The first single, "Hugo", became a hit in Wallonia and was also played on Flemish radio stations. The album was in the Ultratop 50 for 10 weeks and reached number 7.

The Belgian press praised the EP " More " with good reviews. Supported by Francois Gustin on bass and Kenley Dratwa on drums, the band toured Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Germany and Scandinavia. The album sold more than 35,000 times.

After the band toured Europe for two years, the Tellers had enough of each other in their tour line-up and Francois Gustin and Kenley Dratwa left the band. Then Charles Blistin decided he wasn't in the mood for any more touring, and so the Tellers became a one-man band. Ben Bailleux-Beynon called his producer Fabrice Detry, who joined him as the new bass player. He was followed by the drummer Cesar Laloux from Namur and guitarist Joos Houwen.

The second album followed, " Close the Evil Eye ", which was recorded by Baillieux-Beynon and three newcomers after the other members had left the group after the tour for Hands Full of Ink . The album was released on October 15, 2010.
