The Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, Inc. (formerly Buena Vista Motion Pictures Group ) is part of the Walt Disney Company and for the division Filmproduktion responsible at Disney. The prefix of the former company name "Buena Vista" comes from the earlier Buena Vista Company , which was founded by Walt Disney in 1955 , and is derived from Buena Vista Street in Burbank ( California ), where the original Walt Disney Studios were located. The “Buena Vista” brand was abandoned in 2007 and replaced by “Walt Disney”. The company is one of the so-called major studios , the six largest film companies in the United States .

Furthermore, Miramax Films and ImageMovers Digital were part of the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group until they were sold in 2010 and 2011, respectively . Hollywood Pictures closed in 2007.

The films from these companies are all loaned and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures . This distribution and distribution arm of Disney was known as Buena Vista International until 2007 . Today, the name Buena Vista is only used for video and DVD rental and distribution.
