The Winners , from 2012 2Winners , are a German pop - band in 1988 with the lead singer Gary Wendel and three background singers started her musical career.

Career

The first single Go for Gold became the official hit of the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul . In October of the same year the song rose to number three in the German single charts and number 20 in Switzerland . In 1989, The Winners, together with Akina Stevens and the single This Time, provided the official title of the IAA in Frankfurt am Main . After Gary Wendel left, songwriter Wolfgang Jass, who was already successful as a writer for the Goombay Dance Band , took over the role of singer.

Between 1988 and 1995 the group released various singles with changing line- ups , including the theme song from the 1993 ARD series Happy Holiday . In 1995, The Winners contributed the soundtrack to the medical series Klinik unter Palmen . After that it became quiet around the group.

It wasn't until 2012 that the founding members Gary and Jenny, now as 2Winners, came back into the limelight. Together with producer Ray Watts , who works for DJ Ötzi , Anna-Maria Zimmermann and Francine Jordi , among others , the comeback album Yes We Can was released , which includes a new recording of the hit Go for Gold .
