Burträsk is a place ( Tatort ) in the Swedish province of Västerbotten County .
The place in the municipality of Skellefteå is about 30 kilometers as the crow flies southwest of Skellefteå on the west bank of Lake Burträsket , from which the river Bureälven flows. Länsväg 364 runs through Burträsk from Umeå to Skellefteå, on which the residential city of Umeå is 99 kilometers south and Skellefteå 39 kilometers away.
Burträsk's largest employers are a woodworking company, the Norrmejerier dairy , which has been producing Västerbotten cheese since the 1870s , the local hospital and the local schools. From 1965 to the beginning of the 1980s, the small kit car and racing car manufacturer Racing Plast Burträsk was based in Burträsk , as well as a boatyard from the 1960s to the 1970s.
The first Swedish farmers settled in the area around Burträsk in the 13th to 14th centuries. When Gustav I. Wasa levied taxes in 1543, only 67 farms were counted, 22 of them in the vicinity of today's town. From the second half of the 16th century, the population grew faster, and the actual town was consolidated around a church to around Late 18th century.
The composer and music critic Wilhelm Peterson-Berger (1867–1942) grew up in Burträsk .
