The Wretched End is a Norwegian death and thrash metal band from Notodden that was formed in 2008.
history
The band was founded in 2008 by Tomas Thormodsaeter "Samoth" Haugen ( Emperor and Zyklon among others ) and Cosmo ( Mindgrinder ). Both had previously played in the band Scum . Work on the debut album began that same year and lasted until the spring of 2009. This was followed by the recording of eleven songs.
In summer 2009 drummer Nils Fjellström ( Dark Funeral , In Battle , Aeon ) joined the band. The drums were recorded in September 2009 at the Strand Studio in Oslo . Recordings for the album continued throughout the year and ended in the first half of 2010. The debut album Ominous was released on Samoth's own label Nocturnal Art Productions in October 2010 and marketed and managed worldwide by Candlelight Records . In April 2012 the next album Inroads followed in the same way.
style
The band plays a mixture of death and thrash metal, with the use of blastbeats and guttural vocals being characteristic.
