The Vasse Highway is a trunk road in the southwest of the Australian state of Western Australia . It connects the Bussell Highway at Busselton with the South Western Highway 15 km south of Manjimup .

Origin of name

Like the city of Vasse and the Vasse River, the highway is named after the French sailor Thomas Vasse , who disappeared in this area during an expedition of Nicolas Baudin in June 1801.

course

It runs over long distances through Karri and "Jarrah" forests, with some agricultural areas and wineries in between .

From Busselton, the Vasse Highway branches off from the Bussell Highway , signposted as State Route 104 . After 56 km, Nannup is the first larger town. There the Brockman Highway (S10) branches off to the west.

From this the Vasse Highway takes the name State Route 10 . It crosses the Donnelly River at Peerbeelup . 22 km before Pemberton , the access road to Beedelup National Park branches off to the north , and a little later you pass Warren National Park .

From Pemberton it is 19 km to the Vasse Highway with its confluence with the South Western Highway near the Diamond Tree 15 km south of Manjimup .
