Theo Colborn (2010)

Theodora Emily Decker Colborn (born March 28, 1927 in Plainfield , New Jersey , † December 14, 2014 in Paonia , Colorado ) was an American zoologist who was a professor of zoology at the University of Florida in Gainesville . Her field of work was hormone-active substances and their effects on health. Colborn was the founder and president of The Endocrine Disruption Exchange (TEDX).

Her book Our Stolen Future , which she wrote with Dianne Dumanoski and John Peterson Myers , has been published in 18 languages. In the documentary Underkastelsen , Colborn described the danger posed by hormone-active substances as a greater threat than the consequences of climate change .

Awards

In addition to a number of other prizes, Colborn was awarded the Rachel Carson Prize in 1999 .
