Theodor "Turl" Brinek jun. (* May 9, 1921 ; † January 24, 2000 ) was an Austrian football player in the position of midfielder and later football coach.

Player career

Theodor Brinek jun. began like his father, the national player Theodor Brinek sen. , also his football career at SC Wacker Vienna in Meidling . First of all, during the Second World War , he missed winning the championship a few times; Theodor Brinek junior had his most successful time in Meidling. in the late 1940s with club colleagues like Gerhard Hanappi . He made his debut in the Austrian national team on November 10, 1946 in Bern against Switzerland. Theodor Brinek jun. was regularly called up to the team until he left Austria, his best performance he showed in 1947 in the 5-1 victory over Italy , in which he scored two long-range goals.

In 1947 it worked for Theodor Brinek junior. both in the championship and in the cup, where FK Austria Wien was defeated 4: 3. Coaching career

As early as the 1955/56 season at the Swiss football club Servette Geneva, Brinek was not only active on the field, but also in the coaching bench. Back in Austria, he was also active as a player-trainer between 1956 and 1960 at the Vienna AC, LASK and Wacker Innsbruck. After an interlude with the Greek first division club Iraklis Saloniki, whom he coached for the 1962–1963 season, he returned to his homeland and was again a coach at Wacker Innsbruck, later at Wacker Vienna and the Kremser Sportclub.

Private life

In the winter of 1966 Brinek announced that he had taken over the management of the reopened ÖROP petrol station next to the Vienna Palace of Justice .

Sources say that when he was a coach at Iraklis, his son Theodor (the youngest) was a player there and scored one goal in three appearances. Shortly after returning home in 1963, the then 19-year-old is said to have died in a car accident near Innsbruck.
