Theodor Dieter

Theodor Dieter (* 1951 in Neubulach ) is a German Protestant theologian.

Life

He studied Protestant theology and philosophy in Heidelberg and Tübingen ( master's thesis in 1978 , the importance of non-representational in the philosophy of religion Karl Heim , and promotion of theology Dr. 1991 with the work "The philosophical theses of the Heidelberg Disputation Luther and their Probationen. From 1988 to 1994 he was assistant to Oswald Bayer at the Institute for Christian Social Studies at the University of Tübingen and taught political ethics and business ethics. He has been Research Professor at the Institute for Ecumenical Research (Strasbourg) since 1994 and its Director from 1997 to April 2018.

He is pastor of the Württemberg regional church . His focus is on the theology of Martin Luther , its medieval background and its current importance, Lutheran / Roman Catholic dialogue and the dialogue with the Mennonites. In 2017 he was awarded the Joseph Ratzinger Prize .
