Aoife Casey (born June 1, 1999 ) is an Irish rower .

Career

In 2016 she took part in the Junior Rowing World Championships for the first time in her career and competed with Emily Hegarty in a double scull at the 2016 Junior World Rowing Championships in Rotterdam for Ireland. The two missed the qualification for the A final and finished sixth in the B final, so they finished the competition in twelfth place. A year later, Aoife Casey and Margaret Cremen took part in the 2017 Junior Rowing World Championships in Trakai in double sculls. Together they missed the A-final, but they were able to prevail in the B-final and took first place.

In 2018 she took part in the European Rowing Championships 2018 , which were held as part of the European Championships in Glasgow . Together with Denise Walsh , she formed the lightweight double scull. They missed the qualification for the A-final and had to start in the B-final, where they finished second. In the end, they finished the competition in eighth place. As a result, the two of them were also allowed to participate in the 2018 World Rowing Championships in Plovdiv for Ireland . There they missed both the A and B finals and had to compete in the C final, which they decide for themselves. They finished the competition in 13th place.

Near Sarasota and Bradenton , Aoife Casey took part in the U23 rowing world championships for the first time in her career and formed the lightweight double scull with Cliodhna Nolan at the 2019 U23 world championships . They were able to qualify for the A-final, but missed a medal there with fifth place. After 2018, Aoife Casey was nominated for the second time for the rowing world championships in 2019 and competed in Linz together with Denise Walsh at the rowing world championships 2019 and the two again missed the A and B finals. In the C-final they finished fifth in the lightweight double scull, so they finished the competition in 17th place.
