Emily Hegarty (born August 3, 1998 ) is an Irish rower .

Career

For the first and only time in her career, Emily Hegarty took part in the 2016 Junior Rowing World Championships . Together with Aoife Casey , she formed the double scull at the Junior World Championships in 2016 . Together they failed to qualify for the A-final and finished in sixth place in the B-final, so that in the end they finished twelfth in the double scull competition. In 2018 she made her debut in Belgrade in the Rowing World Cup . At the event, she and Aifric Keogh formed the two without a helmsman. They missed the qualification for the A-final and went to the start in the B-final, where they finished third. In the end, they finished the competition in ninth place.

In Poznan, she competed with Tara Hanlon at the U23 World Championships 2018 in a pair without a helmsman for Ireland. They could only qualify for the B final, where they finished sixth, so they finished the competition in twelfth place. Together with Aifric Keogh , with whom she already participated in the Rowing World Cup , she was nominated by the Irish Rowing Association for the 2018 rowing world championships in two without a helmsman. In Plovdiv , the two Irish women qualified for the A final after winning their semi-finals. There they finished the competition in sixth place.

In 2019 she took part in the World Cup in Poznan for the second time in her career . This time, along with Tara Hanlon , Monika Dukarska and Aileen Crowley, she was part of the crew of the four- wheeler without a helmsman. Together they could only qualify for the B final, where they finished fifth, so they finished the competition in eleventh place. Near Sarasota and Bradenton , she took part in the 2019 U23 World Championships with Tara Hanlon . In addition to them, Claire Feerick and Eimear Lambe were part of the crew of the four without a helmsman. They were able to qualify for the A-final and won the silver medal there behind the boat from the United Kingdom and ahead of the boat from the United States.

The U23 silver medal winners took part in the 2019 rowing world championships in Linz in a four-man without a helmsman. Only Claire Feerick was replaced by Aifric Keogh . The team failed to qualify for the A final and they started in the B final, where they finished fourth. In the end, they finished the world championship competition in tenth place.
